2017 MIT Wrap up!
For those of you who read the 4th grade preview we want to apologize for ruining the suspense of this year’s tournament as we correctly predicted the Final 4 and the Finals.
But that’s not to take away from what was a fantastic tournament at a great facility. The tournament was very well run with everything running on time and even minimal referee complaints. Shout out to all the Maryland’s Finest Coaches and Parents who volunteered so that none of the teams had to provide clock operators or scorekeepers.
Now for the wrap up:
2nd Grade: The final four came down to came down to the Carolina Stars vs Train To Win after both teams went undefeated in pool play. Train to Win came out on top 41 to 29. On the other side of the bracket New World beat Riverside 30 to 11 which set up a Train to Win vs New World final with Train to Win coming out on top 28 to 19.
3rd Grade: The Final 4 came down to New World, Takeover, NY RENs and the Carolina Stars after all 4 teams dominated their respective pools. New World took down Takeover 42 to 22 and the RENs beat the Stars 34 to 22 to set up a New World vs RENs final. New World showed why they are the Champs coming out on top 43 to 35.
4th Grade: As predicted the Final 4 ended up being the Carolina Stars, Team Thrill, RENs and Team Loaded. The Star beat the Thrill 40 to 23 while the RENs beat Loaded 55 to 39 setting up a rematch of last year’s National Title game. The RENs led at halftime by 8 but the Stars fought back to win 60 to 52 in an incredibly well-played game by both teams. The Stars had a total team effort Q Williams had 11 pts and 7 assists, Dionte Neal had 8 pts and 5 assists, Isaac Ellis had 12 pts and 3 steals, Johnniyus Sharpe had 13 pts, Snook Peterken had 12 pt and Cam’ron Jones had 6 pts, 8 rebs and 4 blocks. The RENs got big games out of Kayden Mingo and Chidi Nwigwe. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them meet again in the Finals at Nationals in July.
They will do this all again in June, coaches make your plans to be here!
